Hey gorgeous ones. My new year's day offering to you... Violet Electric, the final single and visuall to drop from my Holy Waters EP. I wanted to release this energy as we enter this new decade, full of magic and hope and with the statement that I am coming home! Setting my intentions for this new era... continuing the creative flow, a reflection of my heart and my spirit and holding myself accountable to my goals.

This is a song, in part, declaring my gratitude to the practice of Kemetic yoga as instrumental to my healing process. My good friend Ayanna took me to my first class around 5 years ago and I have been attending ever since. It is a tribute to my two yoga instructors Imani and Fatou. Imani taught me how to breath properly when I was pregnant with Ché and Fatou facilitated me feeling connected to the stars and the cosmos and the phases of the moon. Giving birth at home on Christmas Eve under a full moon, being able to breath through the waves without medication, helped to prepare me for the most difficult tests of my life that were to follow and gave me the strength I needed to pursue true freedom in my personal and creative life. This song and video pay tribute to all those who have come before, providing the spiritual practice and support that has served so many for so long and continues to do so.

The song documents me learning how to control my own thoughts, rather than living in a very reactionary state. It’s about accepting that we are the creators of our own experience, that we can belong to ourselves, that we can save ourselves, that divinity lives within us all and that we only have to learn how to tap into that power and love and to hold ourselves responsible.

The title and the concept of the song came to me during a healing session with a friend, she was describing the vivid purple colours emitting from my crown and the song just flowed from there. The legendary Phil Manzanera then kindly added the epic guitar solos to the chorus sections and helped to achieve the ethereal and uplifting mood I wanted to create. I'm so excited to set this one free. I hope this helps many of us to continue to set our intentions and work towards true freedom. I'm sending love and healing to everyone who has survived narcissistic abuse, all the recovering codependents, adult children of addicts, we can get through this, it can be ok.
